Recovering Vintage Dinette Chairs
Flea markets, tag sales, and second-hand stores are all ideal sources for used furniture. However, a lot of the pieces sold here need to be reupholstered to give them a whole new look. Written below are steps on how to redo a vintage dinette chair.
Start by turning the vintage dinette chair upside down and place the seat on top of a counter or table. Make sure that the seat back is hanging down in front of the counter. Remove the screws from the pre-drilled holes they are attached to and lift the chair frame off the seat. Pry the staples loose with a screwdriver and needle-nose pliers.
Next, measure the dinette chair’s seat shape and cut a piece of hi-loft quilt batting two inches larger than the measurement on all edges. Lay the material on your work table and place the seat face down.
Proceed to stapling the batting on the centre of the seat edge and repeat this process as needed. When this is done, cut a piece of fabric using the same measurements as before. Do as what you did with the cushioning material.
